For the folks who have been monitoring Linden Lab’s new “big thing”, i.e. the Adult Continent / Adult-Rating nonsense, here is the “official” Waikiti position:

Waikiti is a Mature estate. We do not encourage overt public sexual behavior. The beach / clubhouse / etc. areas are clothing-optional, but this is non-sexual: nudism has nothing to do with sex.

I will not designate Waikiti as an ‘Adult’ region. If Linden Lab feels that the region should be ‘Adult’ I will resist, and if forced, I will turn to the residents for a final decision – do we change the rating to adult, or do we delete whatever objects are offending the Lindens’ delicate puritan sensitivities.

In any case, at this time I am not expecting their nonsense to affect Waikiti.

Coming up in a few weeks! The theme this month will be eggs, bunnehs, and crucifixion! Yay!

I finished the website design this morning. There are still some pages that need to be cleaned up, but the theme itself is where I like it.
Nonetheless, if anyone has any suggestions, comments, or problems with it, please let me know. Either leave a comment here, or IM me in-world.

Well of course, no sooner than I post that I haven’t had time to do much, and I suddenly get the compulsion to sneak out of work early and put all my efforts into the Waikiti website, resulting in a custom theme.  I even wrote a WordPress Plugin/Widget to display the current weather, to replace the iframe I was using before!

And I must admit, I am kind of pleased with the result.  The static page links need to be improved, but it is workable for now.  Ultimately they’ll go into a bar across the top, just under the title.

Work on the site has been slower than expected (ok, it’s sort of stopped, temporarily) due to some RL issues.

One advantage that we have with a CMS / blog like wordpress is that it’s possible for folks other than myself to have access to the site for admin stuff.

If anyone in the Waikiti group (eg. residents, estate managers) would like to have publishing access to the site, IM me in world and we’ll set it up.

In the meantime, when I get the chance, I’ll get back to work on getting the site ‘theme’ / template sorted out so it is more appropriately Waikiti-themed.
