I finished the website design this morning. There are still some pages that need to be cleaned up, but the theme itself is where I like it.
Nonetheless, if anyone has any suggestions, comments, or problems with it, please let me know. Either leave a comment here, or IM me in-world.

Well of course, no sooner than I post that I haven’t had time to do much, and I suddenly get the compulsion to sneak out of work early and put all my efforts into the Waikiti website, resulting in a custom theme.  I even wrote a WordPress Plugin/Widget to display the current weather, to replace the iframe I was using before!

And I must admit, I am kind of pleased with the result.  The static page links need to be improved, but it is workable for now.  Ultimately they’ll go into a bar across the top, just under the title.

Work on the site has been slower than expected (ok, it’s sort of stopped, temporarily) due to some RL issues.

One advantage that we have with a CMS / blog like wordpress is that it’s possible for folks other than myself to have access to the site for admin stuff.

If anyone in the Waikiti group (eg. residents, estate managers) would like to have publishing access to the site, IM me in world and we’ll set it up.

In the meantime, when I get the chance, I’ll get back to work on getting the site ‘theme’ / template sorted out so it is more appropriately Waikiti-themed.

Obviously we’re still going through some phases with finding the right style for the website.  I think I’ve made my mind up on what theme will be easiest to modify, so now the changes ought to be less sweeping and more specific to getting the colours and the style to something that’s acceptable.

If anyone has any comments or suggestions, by all means please forward them along, either inworld via IM or leave a comment on the blog here.

It was easier than I expected to transfer all the old posts from the old blog to the new one, so I think we’re going live with this one now. 

There’ll be some growing pains till the style gets settled down, but all the content is here.  It just needs to be prettied up.

On the other hand – comments!  Feedback!  And stuff like that.
