As many have already seen, we have been working over the past few days on improving the Waikiti Beach area.

Following on the rebuilt Clubhouse and new Marina, it seemed natural to enhance the beach itself. The Beach area had gradually shrunk over time to being little more than a narrow strip of sand between the clubhouse, the tallship, and the ferry docks. Using the spoil that came from digging the marina, a large new beach area has been added between the marina and ferry dock.

While some work remains to be done, it is already a cosy and comfortable improvement and a welcome place to relax and enjoy the sun.

After what feels like an eternity, Linden Lab has finally updated their world maps (at least, they have in our neck of the woods).

Happily, the new map reflects all our recent changes:
- the updated Minaki Aerodrome
- the two residential islands in Minaki
- the new Waikiti Marina

It looks like the map is up-to-date as of yesterday or today perhaps. This has allowed me to update our own colonial map. See below in all it’s pixellated goodness!

On Sunday, Vikings descended on the Waikiti Beach and Clubhouse. Their Longship was moored alongside the beach, and our usual tallship the Waikiti Warrior was nowhere to be seen.

Although these barbaric warriors occupied our beach for several hours, damage was kept to a minimum. The invaders were observed performing strange rites involving dancing, and weapons were brandished.

A contest was held to determine which of the invaders had the best kit of gear; the warrior Sandi was declared the victor.

Finally, they packed up their swords and shields and left our shores. By Monday morning, their Longship was gone and TW steered the Waikiti Warrior back to its regular location.

Thank you to all who attended!
