Fishing

Fishing at the shopping village

Since December ’08, recreational fishing has become a popular passtime in Waikiti.
The waters of Colonial Waikiti have been almost fully stocked with
fish from the 7Seas, so residents
and guests alike are welcome to grab a fishing rod and enjoy themselves.

  • Our primary fishing area is around the
    Waikiti Shopping Village
where we have fishing areas, lots of seating, a fishing gear vendor, and even
host contests now and then. This area is also the spot where you can find our
    Custom Catchables (see below).
  • If you are looking for something a little quieter, you’re also welcome to try the
    Beach & Clubhouse
where you may fish in a relaxing atmosphere.
  • If you like fishing from a boat, you can head over to the
    Waikiti Marina
and grab a free sailboat or free swampboat ride, or rez your own water craft at
our boat launch. Most of the waters in the estate are fishable, and all our waters
    are accessable.
  • If your interests include aviation along with fishing, why not visit the
    Minaki Aerodrome,
which is also set up for fishing. Just keep clear of the runway! :)
  • For nature-lovers, the beautiful
    Poliwai Park
is a nice place to visit, and while the park’s primary areas are a bit too far above sea-level
for fishing, there’s plenty of shoreline all around. For the adventurous souls,
you can also find an interesting fishing spot in the subteranean caves — just
    beware the deadly piranha fish!
  • If you really want to get away from it all or you’re looking for something
off the beaten trail, visit our new OpenSpace area,
    Hinton Reef,
a region dedicated to boating (and flying), and entirely set up for fishing.
(Just bear in mind please, as an openspace region there is a 10-avatar limit
and please avoid extraneous scripted objects, where possible.)
  • Another fishing spot that will interest the explorers, is the
    Temple of Magdu.
Magdu is the God of the Waikiti natives, and this ancient temple was their place
of worship. Be careful though – there are some hidden dangers, as Magdu sometimes
does not like to be disturbed! (p.s. the Waikiti custom catchables can be reached
    from the temple!)
